Rodga city block ready for occupancy
Some sixty home-buyers in Norrköping got a pleasant start to the new year when the occupation began in the new city block Rodga, which Semrén & Månsson has designed for HSB. The city block is centrally located opposite the transportation center and forms part of a new, welcoming entrance to the city.
- Rodga city block will be a prominent part of the city's new face towards Norra Promenaden and the train station. We've been wanting to make an urban addition that connects to the Norrköping's historic stone city, and hope to have created something that the inhabitants of Norrköping will appreciate for a long time to come, says Lina Wågström, architect and site manager at Semrén & Månsson in Stockholm.
The project is an excellent example of how new construction interacts with the preserved cultural settlement. The buildings towards Norra Promenaden are urban, robust, while the scale has a more intimate character towards the local street, with a rear house and shared roof terrace. Through differences in floor level and wooden paling, the courtyard environment is also extended towards the calm Rodgagatan.
