The buildings in the new city block will make for an exciting new addition to the central parts of the picturesque and historically interesting stone-city Sundbyberg. The elevated and hilly plot is located to the East in a quiet area towards the end of Vintergatan. The mountainous landscape has been an asset since the terraced courtyards, and the pliable levelled buildings integrate the area's scale into a dynamic cityscape.

Vintergatan merges the pulse of the city with the small town's charm and proximity to nature and recreation. Our goal has been to connect these two qualities. An in volume detached fragmentation of traditional materials such as brick, forging and stucco, designed with a modern awareness of material, context, and details.

In the design process of the new residential area, Semrén & Månsson has placed a significant emphasis on finding innovative ideas and experiences to enrichen the living environment and create persistent value. The 91 apartments are characterized by well-thought-out details as well as smart and practical storage solutions and choices of materials. The apartments will have windows from floor to ceiling to make them bright and spacious. Particular attention has been given to the shared areas with functions to make the day-to-day life more comfortable. The buildings offer a shared studio and meeting hall, a hotel room for visiting friends and family, and a spacious rooftop terrace with a communal greenhouse and outdoor kitchen. In the underground garage, there is a mini-service station, laundry facilities, and generous storage rooms. The bicycle storage rooms on courtyards and in garages and the round recycling station are proudly presented to promote an environmentally conscious lifestyle. Koncept Stockholm has been in charge of the interior design, and Fojab Arkitekter has designed the landscaping.
