    Juvelkvarnen

The Juvelkvarnen area at the old Eriksberg shipyard is part of the municipality's conservation programme. Semrén & Månsson has been working on this project since the early 2000s, when the mill was shut down and a transformation began, turning the factory into homes. This initiative resulted in exciting apartments with thick walls made of solid brick. The mill began in 1914, when AB Mårten Perssons Valsqvarn constructed the first three buildings. These were taken over in 1925 by KF, which...

    Villa Beyer

Work on Villa Beyer provides Semrén & Månsson with a fantastic opportunity to bring back to life a unique Gothenburg building from its long sleep. We are recreating a classic villa in the "Lorensberg villa town" literally a stone's throw from Götaplatsen. Our aim is to make Villa Beyer into a lively, functioning home by developing this 1920s villa, turning it into a modern place to live where the materials and floor plans meet contemporary requirements. Surrounded by strong stone walls...

    Borås University Library

Sweden offers a course for librarians which is held at the University of Borås. This is why a particularly large amount of time and effort has been devoted to the programmatic and ideological issues relating to this library project. In terms of structure, this library will follow the concept of multiple geometric, well defined buildings linked together. The library will also constitute the façade of Allégatan and the end of it at Högskoleplatsen. The public area will flow into the entrance...

    Almedals fabriker

Semrén & Månsson started work with Almedal's Factories in 2001. The assignment was to clean, refurbish and complete the old industrial area and transform it into an area with a mix of offices and other businesses. Together with building curators, we developed a plan for the improvement and a vision for the area's development. The concept is based on the preservation of buildings with great antiquarian value. Less important buildings face demolition and new buildings with contemporary...

    Filmhuset facklan

The authentic wooden buildings around Stortorget in Kungsbacka were supplemented in 1964 with a modern, yellow brick building with large glass panels – the Domus department store. When Domus moved in the 1980s, the building was renovated and extended so that the Post Office could move in. The building was plastered, and the expanses of glass facing the square were reduced. The Post Office has now moved as well, and we are filling the premises with a cinema and a café. The building has now...

    BDO

The passionate revision firm BDO contacted Semrén & Månsson when they wanted a new interior concept to match their offer as a social, positive and driven partner for their clients. The visitor is led from the entrance to the reception and lounge area. Adjacent, a large conference room is located, through which a smaller open-plan office can be glimpsed. Small tables and pendant lights in the staffroom gives a café atmosphere, which invites for a small chat and a cup of coffee with the...

    Magasinet

Semrén & Månsson has worked on the city block Juvelkvarnen in Eriksberg since the early 2000’s. A transformational process was initiated when the former industrial site was to be redesigned to residential housing. Two of the grand brick buildings, ’Kvarnen’ and ’Silon,’ originally designed by the city architect Per Lennart Håkansson, has already been re-designed and turned into apartments. The early 1900’s warehouse 'Magasinet' is the final building that is now being...

    Klippan offices

Near the southern bridgehead of the Älvsborgsbron bridge lies the district of Klippan, an area characterised by old industrial buildings which have now been converted into offices, homes and hotels to a greater or a lesser extent. Although this area is a cultural reserve, Klippan kulturfastigheter – owner of the buildings – wanted to continue developing and consolidating the area. Semrén & Månsson was commissioned to design an office block which was also intended to act as a point of...

    Avalon Hotel

The detailed plan was formulated and the guidelines were drawn up in close cooperation with the City Construction Office for what would become Avalon Hotel. Semrén & Månsson participated from detailed planning to detailed design. Right from the outset, the goal was to create an extrovert and experimental building that united public content with an expressive exterior. The asymmetry of the tapered plot was picked up and can be seen throughout the entire hotel in the form of a "broken...

    Campus Haga

Campus Haga with the Faculty of Social Sciences is located in two blocks in the district of Haga. These buildings were erected in the early 1990s and designed by what is known as Hagagruppen, with Vallgatan and Wallinders Arkitektkontor. At that time, the buildings were planned with vertical communication, with a stairwell for each institution. As part of the renovation project, this has been altered to provide more horizontal communication between areas. Semrén & Månsson has worked with...

    KUNGSPORTSPLATSEN - OFFICE BLOCK

The traditional old Hennigska Huset is situated in the heart of Gothenburg, near to the earlier Kungsporten. This building was erected in 1846 and designed by Carl Georg Brunius, and over the years it has been home to warehouses, shops of various kinds, homes and offices. The location is superb, overlooking the moat, Avenyn and Trädgårdsföreningen and up towards Lorensberg and Vasastaden. This, combined with the effervescent city life inside the moat, makes these premises entirely unique....

    Polstjärnan

The Polstjärnan district is situated to the south-east of central Kungsbacka. The adjacent area was planned and constructed in the 1960s, with the three-storey brick buildings typical for the time. These surround large, undulating areas of natural land, with pine trees and rock out in the open. A retained western slope, tall and freely located, allows plenty of space for new homes with expansive views. The four tower blocks, five or six storeys high, are oriented so that the entrances face one...

In September 2010, Semrén & Månsson was invited to attend a workshop relating to the development of the area around Brottkärrsmotet. The proposal focuses on the express ambition of the in-depth overview plan to develop the area around the Origo building – what used to be the Kodak building – to provide a new local centre for the districts of Askim and Hovås. The conditions are favourable as effective trading is already established in the area. Adding new types of homes which are not...

    Kronhusgatan

A seemingly deserted and fairly ugly blasted rock face used to be visible on Kronhusgatan in Västra Nordstaden. We started thinking about how we could enhance the value of the location from an urban construction standpoint. It would be possible to complete the beautiful urban space around Kronhuset and Kronhusbodarna by placing an angular building around the rock. This idea was developed together with SGS, Stiftelsen Göteborgs Studentbostäder, and the present solution was devised through a...

    Vintergatan

The buildings in the new city block will make for an exciting new addition to the central parts of the picturesque and historically interesting stone-city Sundbyberg. The elevated and hilly plot is located to the East in a quiet area towards the end of Vintergatan. The mountainous landscape has been an asset since the terraced courtyards, and the pliable levelled buildings integrate the area's scale into a dynamic cityscape. Vintergatan merges the pulse of the city with the small town's charm...
