    Danska vägen

Few people wanted to build rented apartments after the turn of the millennium, in a time characterised by recession and abolished state subsidies. At that time, Semrén & Månsson took the initiative to develop rented apartments under its own auspices, resulting in land allocation in the district of Lunden in Gothenburg. This land allocation, for around 200 apartments, required the project to be divided over a number of parties and so we looked for and concluded cooperation agreements with...

This commission was won via a competitive process and a First Prize in 1999. We have worked in participation with MA Arkitekter of Borås during both the competition stage and the detailed design stage. The concept for the project, to link single buildings to form a composite unit, appeared to be successful and simple. This allowed the project to bring about major programmatic changes, such as removing a large auditorium and erecting a large library in its place. The division of the building...

When Domus moved in the 1980s, the building was renovated and extended so that the Post Office could move in. The building was plastered, and the expanses of glass facing the square were reduced. The Post Office has now moved as well, and we are filling the premises with a cinema and a café. The building has now...

    Juvelkvarnen

The Juvelkvarnen area at the old Eriksberg shipyard is part of the municipality's conservation programme. Semrén & Månsson has been working on this project since the early 2000s, when the mill was shut down and a transformation began, turning the factory into homes. This initiative resulted in exciting apartments with thick walls made of solid brick. The mill began in 1914, when AB Mårten Perssons Valsqvarn constructed the first three buildings. These were taken over in 1925 by KF, which...

    Polstjärnan

The Polstjärnan district is situated to the south-east of central Kungsbacka. The adjacent area was planned and constructed in the 1960s, with the three-storey brick buildings typical for the time. These surround large, undulating areas of natural land, with pine trees and rock out in the open. A retained western slope, tall and freely located, allows plenty of space for new homes with expansive views. The four tower blocks, five or six storeys high, are oriented so that the entrances face one...
